We've been fortunate enough to have access to The House of Detention, the basement of a disused prison in Clerkenwell, London. The space is enormous and fascinating. In its 'prime' in the 19th Century an estimated 10,000 passed through each year while awaiting trial. The majority of the building was demolished in 1890 with only this (still vast) basement area remaining. Since 1890 the basement area has acted as a bomb shelter in World War II and had a brief stint as a House of Horrors in the 90s.
